A Special Note:

Why We Are Capitalizing the Letter B in Black

There has been much discussion in the publishing industry about capitalizing the word Black. We’ve decided to join other newspapers and publishers in doing so when referring to people and culture. We are now using Black when we are referring to the group of people who share a specific sense of history, identity, and community, and who have been historically underrepresented and marginalized. We will not capitalize black when using the word to describe the color of an object.
